With Camden's total rent arrears the second highest in London and nearing £18 million (December 2023) - compounded by the ongoing cost of living crisis affecting household finances, the council are considering new approaches to rent collection. Income from rent helps to fund the maintenance and management of the council's housing stock, services, and new homes for people in housing need.
